The UST Asian Studies Society Elections Committee will reconduct the online elections in the Asian Studies Society for the academic year 2024-2025 on May 27, 2024, from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM.
As per the memorandum released by the ASSOC Elections Committee dated May 24, the UST Office of Student Affairs (OSA) permitted the reconduction of the societal elections.
This is after the declaration of the failure of elections last May 14 in reference to Article VII, Section 6 of the Asian Studies Articles of Association (AOA), where less than two-thirds of the voting population cast their votes. In a resolution posted by the Committee, the voter turnout was 135 (62.21%), less than two-thirds of the current total voting population of 217.
Only three official candidates are running for official Executive Board positions. Lara Sophia Chua is the sole presidential candidate, while Manuel Antonio Salak is the candidate for vice president-external, and Ronan Timothy Asturias is running for the position of treasurer.
Meanwhile, the proclamation of the winning candidates will be held on May 28 at the TARC Auditorium.
