For the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic, the UST Asian Studies Society conducted its annual General Assembly and Guild Fest onsite at the Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati, O.P. Auditorium on Friday, Oct. 13.
Asst. Prof. Melanie Turingan, Ph.D., the Assistant Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Letters and an alumna of the Asian Studies Program, urged the participants to reflect on the significance of Asian Studies as an interdisciplinary endeavor.
Meanwhile, the Asian Studies Program Coordinator, Ms. Ma. Regina P. Agustin, MPS, encouraged more research-based initiatives from the students no matter the year level.
The program targets to boost student participation in international conferences following the launching of its new social media page.
The event also aimed to enhance the involvement of the Asian Studies community in ASSOC’s seven official guilds and its two flagship events, the UST Model ASEAN Meeting and the UST Model United Nations.
