Good Girl
dead girl is a good girl
good girl doesn't complain
good girl does what she's told
good girl moves to the side for me on a sidewalk
good girl likes it when I make a necklace around her neck
good girl turns me on when she's tied up in my bed
good girl asked for it
oh, good girl liked it too
like every good girl does
this is not a poem
this is a eulogy for all the good girls
this is not a classroom full of boys making jokes about my body
and so if I don’t laugh? I am no longer the cool girl
I’m the girl who can’t take a joke
this is not a poem
this is a eulogy for all the good girls
this is a call to action
this is breaking that glass ceiling with our teeth and nails
too often we are afraid of coming out
afraid of being judged
afraid of being called a whore, a slut
the last time a woman stepped up as victim of abuse, it quickly turned into a witch hunt
they will call you a villain, a bitch
but never a victim
this is not a poem
this is a eulogy for all the good girls
this is to the good girl who doesn’t want to associate him with anything so she wears the dress she was assaulted in
as a reminder that he doesn’t own any part of her
this is to say f*** you to all the sexual harassers who call themselves feminists
this is to reclaim everything men took from us
this is not just another rape poem
this is a eulogy to all the good girls,
it was never your fault
